In the UK we are truly spoilt when it comes to the natural beauty of our surroundings and each season brings its own special treats. Here at Gallery 88 in Sevenoaks, every day is a visual treat with our displays of stunning original oil and acrylic paintings from renowned artists specialising in landscapes, countryside scenes, wildlife wonders and many more evocative themes.
Spring always makes the heart sing, as do the stunning artworks from Gallery 88’s selected artists. Choose from originals by talents such as Terry Evans whose heavily textured technique accentuates the depth and detail of nature in the most scenic of locations. For a contrasting effect, take a look at M. J. Smith’s more classic approach; the precision and clarity of his unique views of winding countryside roads and rivers are mesmerising. Not surprisingly depictions of rural life in Spring by Edward Hersey – described as a modern-day Constable - are simply breathtaking. Whether portraying hens that rule the roost, mirror-calm ponds or the tranquillity of sunrise, Hersey captures the full rustic beauty.
Summer conjures up all manner of picturesque scenes from picnics by the river, cows grazing, tall grasses growing in the meadows or wispy clouds across a bright sky. These scenes and more can be found at Gallery 88 in a variety of artistic styles by incredibly talented painters. See the unique work of renowned artist, Andrew Grant Kurtis, for dramatic depictions of the Thames reflecting the sparkle of sunshine on its surface or London’s most iconic riverside landmarks through the atmospheric haze of sunrise. Or be transfixed with the vibrancy and detail of Angela Lyon’s work which makes cakes, sweets and breakfast treats look edible. Or sail away in your imagination with Richard Firth’s stunningly-realistic regatta paintings of some of the finest looking yachts in high speed action.
Synonymous with exotic colours, Autumn is one of the most picturesque times of the year. From golden leaves on a woodland floor to an expanse of richly coloured leaf canopies, the effect is vibrant and mesmerising, and eminently suitable for fine art studies. Take the work of British wildlife artist, Stephen Park, who beautifully depicts animals in intimate autumnal settings. Or enjoy the paintings of Peter Reynolds which evoke pleasant memories of bird-spotting. So too is Andrew Grant-Kurtis inspired in his original oil paintings that perfectly capture the tone and feel of this “season of mists and mellow fruitfulness”.
Winter is equally inspirational and, at Gallery 88, our clientele delight in snowscapes and spellbinding scenes of the countryside cloaked in Winter’s soft light. Capturing such subjects in meticulous detail is the world-renowned British artist, Edward Hersey. We are pleased to stock a range of wintry landscapes by this incredible painter who perfectly captures the beauty and heritage of England’s farm buildings. In addition we show many pieces by Richard Telford who has a magical touch that brings to life depictions of snow-clad cottages and village life. Rural winter scenes by Gordon Lees are also very atomspheric capturing the mood of the season. For a slightly alternative style consider the work of the master painter, Stephen Park, who captures intimate glimpses of outdoor pursuits and rural life in the bracing Winter weather.
