John Horsewell

John Horsewell was born on the borders of London and Essex in 1956, son to professional artist Ron Horsewell. The family influence made it natural for John to pick up a paintbrush and he became proficient in pastels, watercolours, acrylics and oils. He initially exhibited his paintings locally but his reputation rapidly spread in major cities in the UK.

John's works are painted with great flair, both in colour and execution. Using a combination of brush and palette knife work he creates a texture that quickly communicates to viewers the pleasure of observing his favourite landscapes. His style injects his paintings with an air of excitement, inviting the viewer to "walk in" and share the experience.

Noticeably resembling the impressionist style of John Haskins together with the fine soft colours and finer detail of Myles Birkett Foster, John’s paintings can be found in private collections in the UK and worldwide.
