Surrounded by history and natural beauty, Sevenoaks is a wonderful place to visit. We certainly love it here at Gallery 88 as do many of our regular customers to our fine art showroom. So, if you haven’t already done so, why not come and browse our display of original oil paintings by renowned artists, as well as take in the many local attractions that are works of art in their own right.
Perhaps the most absorbing of all is Knole House, one of Britain's most impressive stately homes. Dating from the 1450s this vast National Trust property is a ‘calendar house’ famously featuring 365 rooms, 52 staircases, 12 entrances and seven courtyards. Inside there are exquisite galleries, tapestries and showrooms with even more to explore outside where you can enjoy the scenic delights of the 1000-acre park and its most famous residents – over 350 majestic wild deer.
In addition, there are the stunning Riverhill Himalayan Gardens. In an amazingly imaginative setting you can discover world-class British sculpture, and learn about Riverhill's fascinating history, with its links to Darwin and the Great Plant Hunters. Woods, secret pathways and incredible views complete this fantastic experience.
You could also pop in to Emmetts Garden at Ide Hill, near Sevenoaks. This Edwardian estate features a beautiful hillside garden with stunning year-round features including many exotic and rare trees and shrubs from across the world. Standing on one of the highest spots in the Garden of England, Emmetts Garden offers panoramic views over the unspoilt Sevenoaks Weald as well as some great walking opportunities.
Sevenoaks also proudly boasts one of the oldest cricket venues in England, the Vine Cricket Ground. Located in the town itself this recreation area is lovely place to relax whether taking up a park bench position to watch the quintessentially English sport or enjoying a small stroll, dog-walking or just people-watching.
Once you have worked up an appetite you can re-energise at a wide range of restaurants in town, not to mention the many independent tea and coffee shops – you are certainly spoilt for choice in Sevenoaks. You can even see some of our gallery paintings in-situ while dining at the acclaimed Giacomo Italian restaurant in nearby Sevenoaks Weald.
For the full Gallery 88 experience however, pop down to our showroom – in Station Parade opposite the railway station – and see our collection of over 300 originals. Whether your taste is landscape and country, marine, still life, wildlife, figurative or contemporary or a mix of all of these you will find plenty of choice, and masses of inspiration.
We look forward to welcoming you.
